Located at the foot of the Ligurian Alps and a few kilometers from the Mediterranean sea, the valleys of Argentina and Nervia host on their south faces some romantic and medieval perched villages. Those authentic hamlets look like they were in Middle-age, with farms, stone and vineyards were the Rossese wine is harvested. Above the grapes, on a summit at 2000m high, the statue of the Redentore is protecting the inhabitants.
Day 1 Dolceacqua and the Doria’s castle
The medieval village, the 3D movie theater and the wine tasting
3 hours of walking through the history of Dolceaqua and its medieval architecture. In the old town, the narrow streets, the castle, the places and the churches, we will tell you the tragedy of the “Michetta”. Around the corner, a 3D movie will show us what was like centuries ago among the shepherds of the Nervia valley. The day ends logically with a local wine tasting.
Day 2 The Principality of Seborgha
Tour of the village and hike to the Black Mountain
Seborgha is a small village in the mountain and on the coast, 500 meters above Bordighera. It became independent in 1963 and its inhabitants chose their own Prince. We’ll visit the village and we’ll reach the crest that leads to the summit of the Black Mountain. Our reward is a panoramic view of the Ligurian coast.
On a clear day it is possible to observe Corsica.

Day 3 Perched villages of Nervia valley
4 medieval villages in 1 day
6 hours of hike through history and panoramic views on the Italian Riviera. From Dolceaqua, we’ll reach 4 perched medieval villages. We’ll go through terraces planted with olive trees, panoramic crests with the view on the sea and the Ligurian Alps. We’ll visit the Cassini’s museum and its Meridian.

Day 4 The village of the witches and the statue of the Redentore
Summits of the Ligurian Alps
Above the valleys, we will walk on the summits, always observed by the 20m-high statue of the Redentore. We’ll reach the 3 km-long Sacarello Crestand which dominates all the area. The trail of the witches will logically lead us to the village of Triora, the village of the witches.

Day 5 Pietra Vecchia and the Ligurian Dolomites
Vertigo and jewels
The ascent of the summit of Pietra Vecchia (old stone) at 2038 m of altitude is a great moment and an exceptional hike due to the impressing trails sculpted by the Italian soldiers in order to reach the highest points above the valley. From there we’ll observe the entire Argentina valley and the Tenarda lake.
Walk : 200 m elevation gain / 4:30 hours / 7 km / Colle di Melosa and Tenarda lake
Intermediate : 500 m elevation gain / 4:30 hours / 12 kms / Summit of Pietravecchia
Hike : 750 m elevation gain / 6 hours / 17 kms / Via Alpina, vertiginous passages on 2km and summit of Pietravecchia. Optionally tour of the Torragio, very vertiginous (extras 250 m and 4 km)

Day 6 The natural reserve of the Monte Ceppo

Day 7 : it’s only an « au revoir »
We’ll walk in the pedestrian and paved streets of Rocchetta Nervina, a romantic village with a nice river and a long history. Return at the hotel at noon to enjoy an Italian “aperitivo” with the local products.

Please note : the order of the 6 hikes can be re-arranged by the guide depending on weather conditions. Cultural visits can replace the hikes in the worst cases.

The Lago bin hotel is located in the middle of the valley of Argentina. It is comfortable and calm and the atmosphere is the one of a chalet in the mountain.
